Turbine Solutions awarded $453,230 through WA’s Wind Energy Manufacturing Co-Investment Program

Manufacturing News

Turbine Solutions is the third company to get backing via the Western Australian Government’s Wind Energy Manufacturing Co-Investment Program, receiving $453,230 in support.

According to a statement on Wednesday from the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC), which administers the program, the co-investment will support the company’s transition into the wind energy sector. It will also leverage Turbine Solutions’ proven expertise in gas and oil turbine maintenance to deliver specialised services.

The total project budget is $906,460, and it is expected to lead to 15 new jobs and $11.2 million in additional revenues over the next five years.

Eugenio Sanchez, a Director at Turbine Solutions said, “With support from the Western Australian Government and AMGC, we’re building a specialised team, toolkit, and service model tailored for the wind energy sector, focused on boosting turbine performance and cutting downtime.”

The project links the company with an unnamed global manufacturer of wind turbines, and will focus on commercialising services such as bearing replacements and borescope inspections of main shafts, which are critical to turbine performance and uptime.

Bearings enable rotation of key components inside the nacelle, including the main shaft, gearbox, and generator, and their maintenance is technically and physically complex.

Ellen McGarrity, AMGC's WA State Director, added: “Turbine Solutions captures our intent of the Wind Energy Manufacturing Co-investment Program perfectly.

“We have highly capable local manufacturers who can leverage their existing expertise and grow employment and business opportunities in the State, rather than importing them from abroad or interstate.”

The program is currently open to companies in the state and offers grant opportunities across market entry and market growth streams. More information is available here.
